THE Environment Agency is appealing for the owner of a small area of land in Bourne to come forward.
Grass and weed-cutting works are planned on the banks of Car Dyke, near Victor Way, and access is needed across an area of undeveloped land behind the new Tesco.
So far, however, attempts to trace the land owner have proved unsuccessful.
Andrew Dawson, of the Environment Agency’s Operations Delivery Team, said: “We have spoken to businesses and the town council and a notice has been put up in the area to try and locate the land owner. So far, this has drawn a blank.
“We need to carry out the works to reduce the risk of flooding from the dyke and hope the land owner or someone who knows them will read this and contact us so we can make them aware before we go ahead.”
Access along the bank is blocked by a large willow tree and the Environment Agency wants to build an earth ramp either side of the tree for their cutting machines.
The works are due to start in the New Year.
