EVERY child in the class found a voice when they had the opportunity to raise the rafters of Lincoln Cathedral with song.
The whole year five group at Southview Primary School, Crowland, was turned into a choir over a period of six weeks before their performance.
Like choirs in the two other local schools taking part, Bourne Abbey Academy and West Pinchbeck Primary, they had a masterclass each week with Lincoln Cathedral chorister outreach animater Stephen Clay.
Southview headteacher Louise Luter said: “This was an absolutely fantastic opportunity for our year fives. They sang the two songs they had prepared on their own in the cathedral – Jericho and a song from Bugsy Malone – and it sounded really beautiful.
“We’ll certainly want to take part again next year with another class, if we can.”
Mr Clay said: “I’ve been doing this outreach work for three years now, with workshops for five school choirs culminating in a concert in the cathedral twice every term.
“All the children respond really well.”
