A MAN kicked and punched another customer in a Spalding pub during an unprovoked attack.

Thomas Budworth beat up David Nash during an incident in The Ivy Wall.

Siward James-Moore, prosecuting at Lincoln Crown Court, said that Mr Nash was sitting in the pub when four men, including Budworth, approached him.

“Budworth started punching him to the face and head.

“The assault continued when Mr Nash was on the floor with further blows and a second male joined in.

“The second male kicked Mr Nash a couple of times to the head and then this defendant kicked him three times. The assault only desisted when the police were called.

“Mr Nash had no idea why he was assaulted.

“It is clear that the defendant must have been nursing some sort of grievance against Mr Nash.”

The victim was later treated for a fractured nose.

When Budworth was interviewed he accepted responsibility.

He told police he had a drink and then when he came across Mr Nash he “saw red” but denied he kicked his victim.

Budworth (24), of Fulney Avenue, Spalding, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on May 3.

Sentence was adjourned and he was granted bail.
