residents are being invited to view a treasure trove of jewellery as police try to reunite it with its rightful owners.
Rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings are among 150 items of jewellery in the custody of Lincolnshire Police, who have posted images of them on its website.
The jewellery was seized from a house in Spalding last month after police executed a warrant, but they have not yet confirmed that all the items were stolen.
Most of the jewellery is not thought to be of high monetary value, but police believe there may be some sentimental value attached to them and are therefore keen for people to get in touch.
A Lincolnshire Police spokeswoman said: “In excess of 150 items of jewellery were seized during the execution of a warrant at a property in Spalding in June.
“At this stage, we cannot confirm that the jewellery has been stolen but it is suspected that it may be so.
“Therefore, we are appealing to anyone who may recognise the pieces to contact us so that we can establish if they are stolen and, if so, where from.”
Items of jewellery were stolen from homes in Spalding in a series of burglaries over recent months.
The spokeswoman said that no arrests in connection with the burglaries have been made so far and police have been unable to match any of the items seized to the incidents.
“Our database contains information about items stolen in burglaries throughout Lincolnshire,” the spokeswoman said.
“We have so far been unable to match the seized pieces to items on our database, so we are encouraging people to view the photo gallery on our website.”
Anyone who recognises items on the website (www.lincs.police.uk) should contact PC Steve Hull on 101, quoting incident nuumber 331.
