A COMPANY director hit his pregnant wife after losing his business and receiving a surprise housing association letter threatening eviction from their home over unpaid rent.
Tina Wilson was seven months’ pregnant with their second child when her husband, Terry, punched her in the back around six times after he had asked her to go upstairs to check paperwork relating to their house.
He grabbed her by the hair – kept on shaking her – and pulled out a clump of hair.
Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, told magistrates: “It got to the point where she couldn’t see. Everything went blurry.”
Police arrived in the early hours of the morning after Mrs Wilson phoned her mum from the bedroom and asked her to call 999.
Wilson (35) admitted assaulting his wife at Churchfield Close, Deeping St James on July 7.
Spalding magistrates on Thursday adjourned sentence to August 16 for a probation report.
The court heard Mrs Wilson wanted her husband home, but magistrates imposed bail conditions so he has no contact with her and does not enter Churchfield Close until the next hearing.
The prosecutor read out a statement from Mrs Wilson saying her husband had become “more and more aggressive and violent” towards her, she was walking on eggshells and never seemed to have any freedom.
Miss Ritson said Mrs Wilson made a second statement on July 9 saying she did not support the prosecution.
Solicitor Rachel Stevens, mitigating, said Wilson was a director of a local business which got into severe financial difficulty as a result of the actions of two of his partners.
Shortly before the assault, the business went into liquidation owing £200,000 and Wilson had to make 15 of his friends redundant.
He always made provision for the rent to be paid on the family’s home, but his wife was in charge of making the payments and he wanted her to explain what had happened.
She said: “He is deeply ashamed of his behaviour.”
The court heard Wilson is currently living at his mum’s home.
