HOSPITAL bosses say anyone with an appointment at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital should attend as normal because a work to rule by maintenance staff will not hit patient care.
Members of the Unite union are taking industrial action over a national recruitment and retention premium (RRP) which was reduced in April.
Unite says United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT), which manages Pilgrim and hospitals in Grantham and Lincoln, could have negotiated a local RRP agreement, but opted not to do so.
ULHT director of facilities management Mike Speakman said the trust is “disappointed” Unite is taking industrial action over a nationally agreed change.
He said: “Staff who decide to take industrial action will continue to fulfil their roles as detailed in their job descriptions but will cease on-call cover and withdraw good will.
“We do not expect any disruption to patient services and anyone with a hospital appointment must attend as normal.”
