Crowland Cares celebrated its 20th anniversary with a coffee morning at the library.

The event is expected to raise more than £350 to support the ongoing work of the charity that was originally founded to provide extra care, comfort and support for residents with health or social care needs.

It’s work today includes local coordination of the South Holland Voluntary Car Scheme, where volunteer drivers take patients to medical appointments, and Crowland Cares chairman David Ringham said: “We have more or less tripled the miles we did last year in Crowland and the surrounding villages.”

It also runs a help desk at the library, lunches and coffee mornings.

Mr Ringham said the charity is entirely self-funded and couldn’t exist without the businesses and individuals who support it – or the volunteers who give their time.

The tombola at the annivesary coffee morning was a great example of that support with around 80 prizes donated.
