SINGLE mum Sam Ward is desperately seeking a tall, dark stranger who she met in Sainsbury’s.
The 41-year-old has been kicking herself since the day she turned away the man who sought her out after they first set eyes on each other over a packet of doughnuts in the supermarket aisle.
So much so, in her desperation to track him down, Sam has put up a big sign outside her Weston Hills home, saying “I’m a donut – please come back and see me.”
The sign has so far attracted a lot of attention from neighbours and passersby – but not the mysterious stranger who didn’t even leave his name.
Sam said: “All I know is that he has a motorbike, he is tall, has dark hair with a bit of grey and is probably in his mid-40s. He probably drives a silver car too, but that is it.
“I just want him to get back in touch so we can get to know each other better.”
Sam and the stranger got chatting in the supermarket after he spotted doughnuts in her trolley and asked her where he could find more.
She said: “I told him that they had all gone but said he could have mine because I shouldn’t be eating them anyway.
“I was trying to get him to take them but he didn’t want to, but then he said he would if he could take me for a coffee.
“It took me by surprise so I said no. That was four or five weeks ago but then just over a fortnight ago I was getting off the bus outside my home with lots of shopping when a car stopped.
“It was him, asking if I wanted a lift. I said no because my house was only just there, but gave him my phone number and hoped he would call.”
He went a step further – turning up at Sam’s home, telling her he liked her and couldn’t stop thinking about her.
But Sam had just agreed to go on a date with another man, so sent him away again.
She said: “It obviously took a lot of courage for him to come to see me but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“It really took me by surprise and I didn’t know what to say.
“When he left, he kissed me on the cheek and wished me luck but I could tell he was upset, and as soon as he’d gone I realised I did want to get to know him better.
“I hoped he would ring, but he’s obviously being a gentleman and staying away.
“He seems really lovely and I am now kicking myself.
“He knows where I live. I just want him to come to see me so we can start again.”
