FIREFIGHTERS are on the scene of a large blaze at BW Riddle’s recycling plant in Bourne.
The fire broke out at about 1pm in 800 to 1,000 tonnes of waste, including rubber tyes and metal.
There are currently 10 fire engines from across Lincolnshire at the site on South Fen Road.
Police have closed the A151 and say firefighters are using water from a nearby drain to extinguish the blaze.
It is not yet known if anyone has been injured or what started the fire, but witnesses said they could see billowing smoke from Spalding and as far away as Stibbington.
A spokeman for Lincolnshire County Council said it is an “ongoing incident” and firefighters expect it to burn well into the evening.
