YOUNG squash players are celebrating after reaching the second round of a national competition.
The year 13 BTEC sport students from South Holland Post 16 centre are through to the next stage of the National Schools’ Squash Championships, which are open to all schools and colleges throughout the whole of Great Britain.
In one of their two matches in the first round, the students were defeated by players from The King Edward School in Louth, which included members of the Great Britain under 18 team.
Sir John Gleed School and England squash coach Amanda Halifax said: “Despite their amazing opposition the students gave a good performance.”
The team will now compete against Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge next week.
