Father and son Frank and Nathan Teeuw are maintaining a tradition of supplying the nation’s bulbs.

It was a reputation built up in this area when it was known as an enormous producer and grower of all types of bulb, and in particular, tulips.

Those days are long gone, but Frank and Nathan, partners in the Gee Tee Bulb Company, still specialise in supplying bulbs, sending out millions from their site at Moulton Seas End all over the country.

The business was first started over 50 years ago by Frank’s father, known as Mr G T when he was buying at auction, which led to the company name.

On his death Frank and his two brothers took over, until going their separate ways, Frank maintaining the link with Gee Tee. The business was sold about 12 years ago, but when it foundered under its new owners Frank and Nathan made the decision to re-start it.

“We work very well side by side,” said Frank. “We don’t fall out and I do as I am told.”

Their business is divided between internet sales and wholesale, with about 400 different varieties and type of bulb.

The majority of bulbs, such as locally grown daffodils, tulips, crocuses, alliums, and hyacinth, are supplied between late August and January, and from February to April the company is supplying summer flowering bulbs, such as begonias, gladioli and dahlias.

The bulbs are planted all over the country by landscape contractors, as well as in National Trust properties and large estates.
