ATTEMPTING to drive a friend to an emergency dentist appointment despite being banned from getting behind the wheel led to police stopping Saulius Saulys.
Saulys (35), whose address was listed as the Anglia Motel, Fleet, was driving a vehicle which was flagged up by a number plate recognition camera during his journey to Spalding on November 12.
He pleaded guilty to driving while banned and driving without insurance when he appeared before Spalding’s magistrates on Thursday.
Prosecutor Rebecca Ritson told the court Saulys had been banned for 20 months in January.
Carrie Simson, defending, said Saulys was concerned about his friend.
“He considered it dangerous for his friend to drive while she was in pain so he took the foolish decision to drive her himself,” she said.
However, she said he had cooperated with police from the outset.
The case was adjourned until December 20 for a pre-sentence report to be drawn up.
