Suspended prison term for road death

A lorry driver has received a suspended prison sentence following a fatal crash at Swineshead Bridge on April 13 this year.

Mark Wood (51) was given a four months prison term, suspended for a year, for causing the death of Sean Flowers by driving his DAF light goods vehicle on the A17 without due care and attention.

He also received a year’s supervision order with a requirement to carry out 150 hours unpaid work.

Wood, of Brooklands Way, Lincoln, was banned from driving for two years.

He must pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Wood pleaded guilty to the charge at Boston Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Flowers (45), from Newark, died at the scene of the crash which involved four vehicles.

Two drivers went to hospital for treatment.
