South Holland’s “roadside eateries” came under fire at the district council meeting with a councillor insisting the authority should shift them off or make sure they conform to health rules.
Sutton Bridge district councillor Chris Brewis said there was a proliferation of lay-by eateries.
He was concerned the authority would be getting nothing in the way of rent from the businesses and wanted to know if they were being checked out.
Portfolio holder Coun Malcolm Chandler said the eateries are checked and he visited one on the A17 near Fosdyke, which had been awarded by council officers three or four stars for its quality of service.
“They are subject to the same rules as everybody else,” he said.
