More than 30 people backed a mum’s speed cut plea for the A52 at Donington within three days of the launch of an i-petition.
Mum of two Michelle Maddison (34) was cut free from the wreckage of her car just yards from her home on Bicker Road, Donington, on Monday, January 28.
Michelle says she was hit from behind as she waited to turn right into her drive – and pushed into the path of an oncoming car.
She and two other drivers went by ambulance to hospital, but fortunately all three escaped serious injury.
With backing from her neighbours, Michelle is taking a leading role in their long running campaign to cut the speed limit from 60mph to 40mph on the stretch of road outside their homes.
Michelle aims to try to enlist the support of South Holland and The Deepings MP John Hayes and Boston and Skegness MP Mark Simmonds to persuade Lincolnshire County Council to put up 40mph signs.
The county council last week said it recently reviewed all A and B roads in the county – including Bicker Road – and the review showed “that the existing speed limit was appropriate”.
Michelle says the county council may change its mind if campaigners can find an identical stretch of road with a 40mph limit.
She says Bicker Road is “a very fast busy road with constant heavy traffic, including HGVs and other vehicles turning off into local businesses and homes”.
