Sir John Gleed School became a military training camp for a day when students were given a punishing workout just before half-term.
Year 10 and 11 students were put through their paces by the Royal Navy’s Fit for Life team during a day of events that provided an insight into life on the frontline.
As well as fitness exercises and indoor games, students were also given a presentation on careers in the armed forces and the qualifications needed to progress in the military.
Michael Duggan, PE teacher at the school, said: “Last year when we were two separate schools, the Fit for Life team came to the boys campus and we thought it would be a good idea for them to come in again.
“There was the physical side to the day, but also a bit of careers advice which made students realise the armed forces isn’t all about using guns.
“They all really enjoyed it and there was a lot of interest shown by the students.”
