Animates Veterinary Clinic now has a new service available for pet owners with the addition of a vet who specialises in exotic pets.

Animates at Thurlby now welcomes reptiles, birds, insects, fish and small mammals for treatment following the recruitment of veterinary surgeon Sarah Pellett.

Sarah qualified from Cambridge in 2006 and has been working in small animal and exotic first opinion and referral practice. She has recently gained the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoo Medicine and has also been involved with RSPCA rabbit clinics and reptile clinics.

At Animates Sarah joins a team of nine vets, seven qualified and three student nurses across premises in Thurlby and Market Deeping.

Clinic Director Rebecca Kuttel said: “Since joining Animates in December last year Sarah is already busy.

“Services she can provide include consultations for advice on husbandry as well as treatment for sick animals.

“This may require full investigations including laboratory tests, surgery and hospitalisation.

“There are very few vets around that can offer this comprehensive service for these species.”

Interesting patients so far have included chameleons, sugar gliders, parrots, chinchillas, pygmy hedgehogs, snakes, iguanas and many others.

Animates at Thurlby has been established for eight years and recently opened another branch in Stamford Road, Market Deeping. Both practices have operating theatres, hospital wards and in-house laboratories.

Animates Veterinary Clinic is dedicated to the care of companion animals
and aims to provide an excellent service for your
pets, while maintaining a caring and friendly atmosphere.
