Top student Wayne earns royal approval

A student from the National Centre for Food Manufacturing (NCFM)at Holbeach has been presented with an industry award by Princess Anne.

Wayne Clark was chosen to receive an award for Best Student Driving Food Manufacturing Excellence following his efforts in improving performance at DP Packaging in Pinchbeck.

He picked up his award from the Princess Royal at an awards ceremony in London hosted by the Institute of Meat and the Meat Training Council to recognise the achievements of the industry’s best.

Wayne, who has recently been promoted to quality assurance manager, has been studying at the Holbeach centre since 2009 and has completed an apprenticeship in food and drink manufacturing operations and an advanced apprenticeship in food manufacture. He is now working towards a Level 4 certificate for proficiency in food manufacturing excellence.

Sharon Green, head of skills and employer engagement at NCFM, nominated Wayne for the annual awards.

She said: “Wayne has truly seen the benefit of life-long learning and how training and development can lead to promotions in the workplace.

“His employer has always supported Wayne in releasing him to attend days at the campus to develop his knowledge and skills.”
