Villagers are being urged to start using a newly-refurbished community hall or risk losing it.
There had been fears Moulton Village Hall could fall into disrepair when a pre-school moved to new purpose-built premises last summer.
But Moulton Community Association, which runs the hall, is now hoping to breathe new life back into the Victorian-era building by encouraging groups and individuals to consider booking it for events and regular meetings.
Chairman Roger Seal said: “As with all these community facilities it really is a case of use it or lose it.
“The village hall has had a bit of a revamp with new double glazing to make it really snug, so now we are throwing open the doors and issuing an open invitation to people to come and have a look to see what we offer.
“Until last summer the hall was full of pre-school equipment and belongings, so people couldn’t really appreciate what was on offer.
“It was obviously a blow when the pre-school left because it was a steady income, and there was concern, particularly from the parish council, that it would fall into disrepair if another tenant couldn’t be found.
“But the dedicated band of volunteers which make up the community association is determined that 2013 will be the start of a new chapter.
“We have received many positive comments over the past few months from people who have hired the hall, many of whom had never set foot inside before.
“So if you have moved into Moulton within the last 20 years or so you will have no idea what lies beyond that rather unattractive porch door.”
