Young Spalding businessman Adam Mayer is taking up the Three Peaks Challenge for the Breast Cancer campaign in memory of his mum .

Adam can’t forget the date his mum Susan Mayer died of breast cancer – May 22, 2004.

He was just 14 when she finally lost the fight after three years of living with cancer.

Now as a tribute to her, he wants to raise as much money as possible for the campaign which funds research in the UK and Ireland into the causes and potential prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Adam (23) who set up new Sheepmarket-based building firm Response Construction Maintenance Ltd with two business partners this year, said: “I’ve always wanted to do something for my mum and this year, with Mother’s Day coming up, I found the answer.

“I wanted it to be something really challenging and at the same time to contribute to saving other women who may get the disease.

“I need people to pledge enough in sponsorship so I’ve raised £600 to qualify me to undertake the Three Peaks Challenge on behalf of the campaign.”

He’s paid for registration and transport upfront so every penny pledged goes to breast cancer research.

He’s started running every day and plans to build up strength in a gym to fit him for the Challenge in which he’ll join others sponsored for the Breast Cancer Campaign on July 12-13, climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lakes and Snowdon in Wales, all within 24 hours.

Adam previously did a 100ft abseil for the Stroke Association.

To help Adam on his way and at the same time contribute to breast cancer research, make your sponsorship pledge on www.justgiving.com/adam-mayer1.
