The winter months can be rough on our skin. Our faces get dry and lips get chapped. Harsh winds and colds can leave our noses runny and irritated.
Add to that the fact that we don’t get much sun exposure and it is easy to see that our skin needs a little prepping to get it ready for the first warm spring days outside.
These tips will help you to start getting your skin ready for spring.
l Get rid of dead skin cells – exfoliate your skin and prepare it for the moisturising that will follow.
l Skip the hot bath – soaking in a hot bath may seem tempting when it’s cold outside, but it can dry out your skin.
Opt for a quick warm shower instead and use a gentle moisturising cleanser.
Pat yourself dry with a soft towel.
Don’t forget to replenish your skin using a good moisturizer after each shower.
l Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise – to soften the skin and give it a natural glow, use plenty of moisturiser. The dry winter air, and the heated inside air do quite a bit of damage to your skin during the colder months.
l Watch what you eat – eat foods packed with antioxidants.
Vegetables remove free radicals that clog up your blood flow and prevent your skin from looking its best. If you eat healthy, you look healthy.
Green tea is also great for getting antioxidants into your body, if you are not a vegetable lover.
l Keep your hands to yourself – if you are constantly touching your face you are simply transferring all the junk and germs on your fingers to the skin on your face.
