A charity tombola at Beales Department Store on Saturday helped kiss-start this year’s fundraising drive with nearly £300 for Two Lips.
Set up by the Rotary Club of Spalding, the campaign looks after good causes on our doorstep and Beales is one of a handful of town centre businesses going all out to help.
Beales store director Michael Hopkins said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to support the local community, we have teamed up with Spalding Rotary Club and together we hope to raise a great amount of money for some really worthy causes.”
Beales and Rotary donated prizes for the event, including a three-piece luggage set, cosmetics gift sets and a cuddly toy.
Rotarian Peter Atkinson said: “People were very supportive.”
Mr Hopkins said Beales agreed to sell Rotary’s appeal emblem – plastic Two Lips – but the partnership grew.
He said: “I was keen to become affiliated and support the Rotary club because of their Two Lips campaign.
“Beales is very much about localism and building strong links with the community – all of the monies raised by Two Lips goes to local charities within the Spalding area and so it is an ideal cause for us to champion.
“The tombola was the second fundraising activity sponsored by Beales this year and I would very much like to continue our support and to help raise awareness of the great work that is undertaken by the club.
“I am actively looking for great local causes to support with time from my store team as well as fundraising opportunities.”
