Residents are being urged to avoid using the A&E department at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital “unless absolutely necessary”.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is currently experiencing high demand for beds and services at Pilgrim Hospital, Lincoln County Hospital and Grantham and district Hospital.
To cope with the demand, the hospital has opened additional beds and is being supported by local commissioners and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to ensure that beds are freed up when possible.
A spokesman said: “We are asking members of the public to help us during this busy time and only use A&E if absolutely necessary. If you need medical help fast, call NHS 111 24 hours a day or seek advice from your GP or pharmacist.”
