Visitors to one of South Holland’s top attractions could soon have an added reason to go if plans are approved for a miniature railway.
Springfields Horticultural Society has applied to South Holland District Council to build the miniature tracks around a wooded area of Spalding’s Springfields festival gardens, behind the shopping centre.
The plans include a dual platform either side of the track, surrounded by white picket fence.

There would also be a bridge and a 1.1metre high domed shelter, covered in earth and grass, which would be used for storing the engine and carriages overnight.
A statement reads: “The proposed scheme would be a positive contribution to the character of the area and will be a positive contribution to the Festival Gardens and the tourism of Spalding.”
