A man who turned up at the home of his ex’s mother armed with a knife has been jailed for 26 months at Lincoln Crown Court.
James Davies sent abusive and threatening texts to his ex Ashley Renwick and then arrived at her mother’s address in Deeping.
Jonathon Dee, prosecuting, said Davies, who had been drinking, demanded to see his ex but was told to go away.
Davies then returned at 10pm and shouted abuse about his ex which led to his ex’s brother Lewis Renwick telling him to go. Davies ran off but then suddenly turned round and produced a sheath knife from his pocket.
The knife was wrestled off him by the brother who suffered a number of cuts.
When Davies was arrested he claimed he had been invited to the house by the family but was then chased and “hunted down”. He claimed he was attacked and feared for his safety.
The court was told that Davies had previously received a police warning after posting a fake profile of Ms Renwick on a dating website.
Davies (24), of Manor Way, Deeping St James, admitted charges of harassment and putting a person in fear of violence through possession of a knife in a public place on 30 May.
Judge Sean Morris imposed a four year restraining order banning Davies from contacting members of the Renwick family.
He said: “You effectively embarked upon a campaign against this lady. You behaved disgracefully towards her.”
Christopher Jeyes, defending, said that any injuries were inadvertently caused.
“He realises that his conduct was unacceptable and he has to move on. He recognises that the relationship is over and he does not contemplate getting back with the young lady in question.”
