A young mum and her three-month-old baby had a lucky escape after their car overturned and crashed into a drain.

The 21-year-old, from Quadring, suffered just cuts and bruises in the crash at the junction of Sweetlands Way and Station Road on Tuesday at 10.50am.

But her baby had to be airlifted to Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, as a precaution over fears she may have been submerged in the water.

She was later reported to be recovering well in hospital.

The road was closed for around three hours and the police are now investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.

Pc Wray is keen to speak to any dlivery drivers who may have been in the area at the time, particularly a white food van with a green stripe around the bottom.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the mum’s blue Peugeot 206 before the accident can call the Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855 or Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 110 of September 17.
