A man carrying a baseball bat put a father in fear for his safety and that of a child who was with him.
Richard Tilley and a young girl were walking two Yorkshire Terriers at Princess Grove, Market Deeping, on August 10 when Olegas Gudauskas appeared.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, said Mr Tilley described to police how Gudauskas was waving a baseball bat towards him and shouting at him.
He said Mr Tilley shouted at Gudauskas that he had his dogs on leads, but then ran with the young girl to a neighbour’s property and phoned police.
Mr Clare said Mr Tilley told police Gudauskas’ behaviour was “very aggressive” – and he was scared for his own safety and that of the child.
A witness saw Mr Tilley walking with the girl and the dogs. Gudauskas was behind them, walking down the middle of the road with a baseball bat in his hand and it was “swinging by his side”.
She saw Mr Tilley “keep looking over his shoulder” at Gudauskas.
Gudauskas (27), of Northfield Road, Peterborough, admitted possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and was sent by Spalding magistrates on Thursday for sentence at Lincoln Crown Court after they decided their sentencing powers were insufficient.
