A man arrested in his own home over a domestic dispute put his head down and charged the police officer.
Grzegorz Gunia (36), of Breda Court, Spalding, continued being disruptive during the early hours of November 2 and was tasered before being taken to the police station.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, said Gunia was initially arrested on suspicion of assaulting his partner, but later received a police caution “because of the domestic situation”.
He said police were called by a neighbour and heard a woman shouting from inside the property when they arrived.
Mr Clare said Gunia was described as “swearing and drunk”, but was relatively compliant at first before becoming aggressive and freeing himself from the officer’s grip.
He said Gunia suddenly lowered his head and moved forward quickly towards PC Martyn Cragg, striking him in the chest area.
“It’s not a headbutt as such,” said Mr Clare. “He just moves forward with his head down and, as I understand it, connects with the officer’s chest area, his shoulder.”
The court heard PC Cragg was not injured.
Gunia was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £20 victim surcharge when he admitted assaulting PC Cragg.
Solicitor Roger Lowther, mitigating, said there was an argument between Gunia and his partner’s brother and police separated all of the parties into different parts of the house.
Gunia became upset because police wouldn’t allow anyone to attend to a child, but Mr Clare said it was a case of “not now” as they wanted to get Gunia out of the way first.
