Produce World – which has an operation in Sutton Bridge – teamed up with Crisis at Christmas to help feed thousands of homeless people over the festive period.
The company, one of the UK’s leading growers and suppliers of fresh field vegetables, donated over 11 tonnes of fresh vegetables, which was distributed around the Capital’s nine Crisis centres.
Produce World gifted 352kg of broccoli, 243kg of pointed cabbage, over 1.5 tonnes of red cabbage, a tonne of carrots, 304kg of cauliflower, 1.2 tonnes of onions, 583kg of parsnips, nearly 6 tonnes of potatoes and 73kg of sprouts.
The vegetables were cooked up by the charity’s 8,000 volunteers to cook up 21,000 meals – enough to feed the charity’s centre users over eight days.
Andrew Owens, produce World’s group marketing director, said: “We were proud to be supporting such a worthy charity this Christmas.
“The work that Crisis at Christmas does is second to none.”
