The operator of bus services between Spalding and Sutton Bridge has been taken over by one of the biggest firms in the industry.

Norfolk Green, which operates the 505 service between Spalding and King’s Lynn, has been bought by Stagecoach Group as it seeks to expand its market in eastern England.

Formed in 1996 with an initial fleet of just four buses, Norfolk Green now operates 70 buses across an 80-mle radius of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

But the decision to sell to Stagecoach came after managing director Ben Colson suffered ill health in the summer.

He said: “The company goes forward in new hands and good shape, benefiting from being owned by a major transport company.
