A MAN who admitted taking a motorbike without the owner’s consent hid in a field when a police patrol car approached in the early hours of the morning.
The officer spotted Thomas Nicholls (18) lying in a furrow beside Stockwell Gate, Whaplode, at 3.40am on November 28. He was wearing a helmet and the Yamaha was nearby.
Nicholls (18), of Rose Gate, Saltney Gate, Saracen’s Head, must serve a six-month community order with a three month curfew, staying at home between 8pm and 6am, and pay £85 costs.
Solicitor Mike Alexander told Spalding magistrates that Nicholls was not the original taker but was moving the bike at the time.
