Your calls will catch crooks

A SURGE in calls to the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has been hailed as proof that Lincolnshire people are helping to catch crooks.

Calls to Crimestoppers shot up by five per cent last year across the UK and Lincolnshire people alone gave 657 anonymous tip-offs that were passed to police.

Crimestoppers regional manager Sue Langley said: “Clearly the people of Lincolnshire want to help fight crime and our anonymous service offers a fear free way of doing this.

“Without the continuing support from the people of Lincolnshire, these pieces of information would not have been able to be passed on.

“By helping catch those on the wrong side of the law, the anonymous information we receive makes a real difference to making our cities, towns and villages safer.

“I would urge those who have information on crime and criminality to keep the information coming to us.”

Crimestoppers says support in Lincolnshire has been particularly strong for campaigns like metal theft.

The charity is due to launch further campaigns with a focus on rural crime and the launch of its youth brand, Fearless.

Crimestoppers can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
