A woman who stole groceries from Sainsbury’s in Spalding told police she just wanted something to eat.
Jenny Coombes (26) was caught on November 12 as she left the store with groceries worth £12.37.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, told Spalding magistrates on Thursday that Coombes admitted the offence straight away.
He said Coombes told police: “I just wanted something to eat. Sorry for wasting your time.”
The groceries were recovered.
Coombes, of Pennygate, Spalding, was conditionally discharged for six months when she pleaded guilty at Thursday’s hearing. She must also pay a £15 victim surcharge.
Solicitor Mike Alaxander, mitigating, said Coombes had fallen behind with her rent and was told to pay £45 or leave.
Mr Alexander said it left her nothing to buy food.
“She stole because she was hungry,” he said.
