A driver who shot through a red traffic light in Spalding was nearly double the drink-drive limit.
Police first noticed Narius Rackauskas (28) when he appeared to be going over the speed limit but then saw him go through the lights in Pinchbeck Road, Spalding, at 1am on November 10.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, said he was stopped and a breath test showed he had 66 microgrammes of alcohol in breath – the legal limit is 35mcgs.
Rackauskas, of Ayscough Avenue, Spalding, was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £24 victim surcharge.
He can cut four months off the ban if he completes a rehabilitation course.
Rackauskas pleaded guilty at Thursday’s hearing in Spalding Magistrates’ Court.
Solicitor Mike Alexander, mitigating, said Rackauskas had “three or so” strong beers – around 6.5 per cent alcohol by volume – and finished drinking around 9pm.
He was stopped four hours later and felt fine by then.
Mr Alexander said: “That’s the lesson he’s learned today that alcohol comes out of your system at different rates.”
