A SUTTON Bridge mum says a local park is too dangerous for her children to play in.
Sarah Cowles told the parish council she was disgusted at the state of the Memorial Park behind the Curlew Centre in Bridge Road.
In an email to parish clerk Suzanne England, she said: “I took my two-year-old son and nine-month-old daughter to the children’s play area and am disgusted at the state I found the area to be in.
“My son was at the top of the slide and I had to stop him going down because there was broken glass all over the bottom. Broken glass was also all over the grass and litter everywhere.
“The roundabout is broken and a baby swing is missing. We have used this park a lot, but after going today I don’t feel it is safe to take my children to play there.
“Someone is going to get really hurt if the area is not tidied up and the play equipment looked at.
“I have lived in the village all my life and am now raising my own family here.
“I’m disappointed to say the least at what I found today and my son was not impressed when he couldn’t play.”
This was the second complaint received by the council in recent weeks.
Chairman Coun John Grimwood said: “We try to do our best but we have a big vandalism problem there. The police have been informed but they can’t be there 24/7.
“I’ve been down and collected two bags of rubbish – all we can do is inform the police again and hope people will put rubbish in the bins.”
There is good news about the swing, though. He said: “The swing was removed because it was broken but we now have a new one.”
