NEIGHBOURS in a Long Sutton street are counting the cost after a tornado swept through their street leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Fences and sheds were ripped apart,a child’s trampoline was left twisted and broken and a chimney was knocked down as the swirling wind tore down Woad Lane at about 2.30pm.
Dave Matthews, who lives in the street, said: “I was at work when my partner Kristie called me to say a tornado had knocked down a chimney on the house across the street and broken the fence and trampoline.
“I don’t think my boss believed me when I said I had to go home because there had been a tornado in my street.
“I think Kristie was a bit shocked by it too. It all happened so quickly but did so much damage.”
