A PINCHBECK food testing laboratory is to close with the loss of 28 jobs.
ALcontrol is to move its Enterprise Way-based operation to its base in Rotherham as the final stages of a restructuring programme.
The laboratory started work on analysing its final batch of samples last Tuesday and is expected to close this week.
Nine members of staff from Pinchbeck will transfer to jobs elsewhere in the company or will remain in post as driver will continue to be employed.
Mike McCorkell, managing director of ALcontrol Laboratories UK and Ireland Food and Waters division, said: “This business change is in no way reflective of the efforts of Spalding staff to do a good job for ALcontrol and its customers.
“It follows a collective consultation with staff at our Spalding laboratory and they have been offered the opportunity to relocate to Rotherham and other ALcontrol sites, but there will be a number of redundancies as, of course, personal circumstances mean relocation is not a practical solution for all.”
He added that the company was continuing to invest in improvements to its other sites.
One member of staff, who wished not be identified, claimed staff were unhappy with the way they had been treated over the closure, which had been shrouded in secrecy.
