ENTERPRISING youngsters handed over the fruits of their labours at the end of a year-long challenge to turn a profit from £50.

The five tutor groups in Year 8 at Spalding High School came up with a host of fundraising events and activities to raise money as part of the G-Nation Challenge.

And their total was around £1,500 – almost three times higher than last year – with the winning group raising £476.77.

The challenge involved each group being given £50 to get them started on their fundraising trail – which included the groups making things to sell such as Christmas decorations and flower baskets for Mother’s Day, as well as holding guess the teddy bear’s name competitions and cake stalls.

Teacher Kim Chappell, who oversaw the challenge with colleague Liz Maxey, said: “They were really quite enterprising and there was a healthy dose of competition between the groups, so they raised a fantastic amount of money, which they then hand over to charities they have chosen.”
